Via recently announced the election of B. Scot Smith and Peter Powers to its volunteer board of directors.
“Via is honored to welcome Scot and Peter as new board members. They bring diverse perspectives and experiences from their work that will enhance our efforts to provide services to those with limited mobility,” Lenna Kottke, executive director, said.
B. Scot Smith is a founding principal at The Colorado Group. With a career spanning more than 37 years, Smith has led his company to become Boulder County’s largest commercial real estate firm. In 2012, he was inducted into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame. Smith has held leadership positions in local and regional Rotary groups, volunteered as a director and English instructor for Intercambio, and served as board president for HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties as well as chairing its strategic planning committee.
Peter Powers is director of business development at Longmont United Hospital. He recently moved to Longmont with his wife and two children from Carmel, Indiana, where he was owner and managing partner of Domain Companies, a custom home, renovation and roofing company. Powers is a member of the Rotary Club of Longmont and a competitive triathlete. In Carmel he served on the board of the Young Professionals Group of the Chamber of Commerce; and he volunteered with the Carmel Lions Club and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis.
In other business, Frank Bruno, vice president for administration at Western Disposal Services, was elected president of Via’s 2013 board of directors, and retiring board members Jana Petersen, administrative services director for Boulder County, Tony Dworak, attorney with Lyons Gaddis Kahn & Hall PC, and Kati Pressman, retired nurse, were recognized for their outstanding service.
