Via announces the appointment of Frank Bruno as the new CEO to succeed retiring Executive Director, Lenna Kottke. The announcement was made following a nine-month search process completed by Via’s board of directors. Frank’s official start date is October 3, 2016.
Frank’s breadth of executive leadership experience, his deep knowledge of the local community and demonstrated long-term dedication to Via’s mission and operations made him the ideal candidate to take over the helm of Via. Since his move to Boulder from Ft. Collins in 2003, Frank’s résumé includes serving as Boulder city manager, as well as senior executive positions at CU-Boulder, Western Disposal, and Boulder Community Health. Frank has been on Via’s board of directors since 2010, including as President of the board from 2013-2014.
Frank has served on many local nonprofit volunteer boards including Foothills United Way Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties, Impact on Education, Humane Society of Boulder Valley, Boulder Innovation Center and Boulder Economic Council.
Frank’s education includes an M.S. in Human Resources Management & Labor Relations from New York Institute of Technology, School of Management; and a B.A. in Environmental Studies/Business Administration from St. John’s University, New York.
He lives in Boulder with his wife and two young sons.
Founded in 1979, Via is a private, nonprofit organization providing on-demand paratransit services, individual and group travel training and mobility options information and referral for people living with mobility challenges in 19 communities across five counties. Operating on a social enterprise business model, Via also operates Boulder’s HOP community transit program under contract to the city of Boulder and CU-Boulder, as well as Access-a-Ride and Call-n-Ride transportation services under contract to RTD. Via’s 2016 operating budget exceeds $17M.
