Via loves a good challenge. So when we heard that Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper had challenged Coloradans to perform 10,000 random acts of kindness before mid July, we knew Via could help.
Admittedly, Via has an advantage with this challenge since we’re a human service agency. Our mission is to provide specialized transportation and mobility options for older adults and people with disabilities. Kindness is key to all that we do. But even in the business of kindness, we find Via employees who go above and beyond.
Over the next few months, we’ll be posting photos and notes on Facebook and Twitter using the #stateofkind hashtag to recognize those Via employees who “go the extra mile” providing service with an extra dose of kindness.
We’ll start with this excerpt from Via’s director of customer and community services, Bob D’Alessandro:
“I just received a call from a resident of Vernon Park [senior living community] in Brighton who asked to remain anonymous. She wanted to share that she observed one of our drivers escorting a passenger from her home to the Via vehicle. They were walking arm-in-arm along the sidewalk when they took a brief detour to walk through the leaves that had gathered on the lawn adjacent to the sidewalk — to the sheer delight of our passenger. The caller thought this was the ‘sweetest thing’ the driver could have done for our rider. She went on to say what a wonderful person the driver was in general.”
