An Industry Leader Turns 35
Last summer, I took a day off from work to drive my elderly in-laws to a doctor’s appointment in Loveland. The experience made me reflect on how fortunate we Boulder County residents are to have Via, a nonprofit mobility service, supporting our community.
Founded in 1979, Via provides transportation and mobility options for those unable to drive due to age, disability or health condition. Over the past 35 years, Via has established itself as an industry leader, known across the country for best practices in mobility options. Via strives to be a one-call resource for people with mobility limitations and their families. To accomplish this goal, Via partners, and coordinates with other service providers to maximize resources and minimize duplication of services.
Via sets the bar high in many areas, including environmental stewardship. Via’s green built, sustainable facility on North 63rd Street in Boulder has received many awards. Hundreds of visitors have traveled from around the country to learn about its state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building technology. In addition, Via’s fleet of vehicles utilizes hybrid electric, compressed natural gas, clean diesel and conventional gasoline as fuel sources.
Above all, Via excels at putting the client first. Caring, respectful, safe and efficient service are central to all Via does.
Via commemorates 35 years, it’s important to recognize how much Via benefits our community and the commitment and passion that drive this organization. Strong leadership, dedicated staff and a willingness to embrace change will help Via evolve and continue to lead the field of mobility options. We are very fortunate to have this outstanding service which sets our community apart from most others and elevates the quality of life for our more vulnerable residents.
